Ten Steps to Finding The Perfect Wedding Dress

Choosing a bridal wedding dress is a very important thing part of your wedding planning. As the bride you will be a large part of the center of attention, and everyone is looking forward to watching you stroll down the aisle. The last thing that you want to experience on your special day, is to feel and look uncomfortable as you fidget with your wedding dress. So in order to assist you in avoiding such a scenario, I have compiled are some simple steps to help you find the perfect wedding dress to will fit in comfortably with your body, wedding theme and personality:

1: Recognize what works best with your particular physique.
Although you may already have an ideal dress design in mind, there are some important factors to consider when choosing the right wedding dress for you. Does the dress you have in mind complement you, or does it draw attention to - or even exaggerate - unflattering things that might make you look and feel uncomfortable? What may be perfect to you on media, may not work well in person, and it would be to your detriment to become inflexible with your initial choice in a wedding gown.

      2: Establish a realistic budget
... and stick to it. Even though your wedding day will be your day to shine, that is no reason to create an unnecessary financial hardship on your budding marriage for months or even years to come. Keep in mind that there are many other costs involved with your wedding. Why compromise your future finances beyond your means over a dress that will only be worn for several hours? I am not trivializing the fact that it is your special day and you want to look your best - I am simply stating that if other aspects of your wedding are left lacking, what you wear will not matter to your guests, whom will walk away with in many cases a poor first impression of you and your groom to be as a consolidated couple. To your guests, the little things - such as an open bar, good lighting and sound, the menu, the band, seating and parking are what will leave the biggest impressions. On a personal level, the little details that adorn you will also make the biggest impact as well, such as your hair adornments, your jewelry and your attitude. While attitude is affected by what you wear, what you wear does not make the person you are, and all of the wardrobe in the world can not change that. Set a practical budget, don't feel a need to apologize for such, and have fun with it!

      3: The Three-Month Rule
Give yourself at least 3 months' time to select the perfect dress for you prior to the day of the wedding. Your wedding dress needs to be chosen early on. Choosing a wedding dress is not something to put off until your wedding day is right around the corner. There will be so many other things to think about as that special day approaches, and the stress of waiting on your dress and cramming alterations into your schedule at that stage can seem insurmountable- especially when considering the many variables involved in acquiring the perfect dress for your individual physique. Get fitted ahead of time. This will give you plenty of time along the way to have any necessary adjustments made should the need arise. Thats not to say that you should choose a dress 2 sizes too small a year in advance thinking that you will be able to fit into it 12 months later - It simply means that if you wait until the last moment, you may find yourself being sorely disappointed.

      4: Dressed, accessorized, then shoed
Choosing your wedding gown should always come before selecting your wedding shoes. Creating your wedding day wardrobe around a pair of shoes is similar to attempting to creating a car around a set of rims, and such can be disastrous because such only limits your options from the start, and will only lead to much more unnecessary stress. Bridal shoes should accent your wedding gown, not supplant its significance. If you order your dress early on, you will have plenty of time to find the perfect wedding shoes for your special day.

5: Find a dress that fits you without being too tight nor too loose
If you give yourself a six month window between wedding dress selection and your wedding day, there is the chance that you may end up losing or gaining weight prior to your big day. That said, it is better to end up with a looser gown than one that is too small, because it is much easier to modify a loose-fitting wedding gown than it is to add more material to a tight-fitting wedding gown. If you want to feel comfortable on your wedding day, keep in mind that gown modifications are usually inevitable regardless of dress design or manufacturer, so make sure that you choose a dress that is loose enough to be a bit forgiving, and allow yourself a window of time for modifications.

      6: One size fits all?
Realize that there truly are no one size fits all wedding dresses, and that no wedding gown from a wedding gown manufacturer is truly ready-made.

7: Don't be afraid to have alterations made as or if needed.
In fact, a upon having a dress resized by a tailor, the tailor will be able to point things out to you about making the gown compliment your physique in ways that you may have overlooked, as well as have ideas for minimizing issues that may otherwise leave you feeling awkward on your special day.

8: Select gown materials that are comfortable to you
Keep in mind the environments during which you will be wearing your dress. A dress that is too starchy or too hot or cold for your particular wedding can make you feel as uncomfortable as one that is too loose or too tight. Never let them see you sweat. Also, keep in mind your personal sensitivities to different materials when considering what to wear.

9: Don't overlook your bra selection
Chances are your gown will be of the off-shoulder type. If you choose a off-shoulder wedding gown, keep in mind that it is to your advantage to accentuate the slim outlines of your shoulders with a strapless bra.

10: Be sure to set aside time to refit your gown a week before your special day
This will help you avoid any surprises, and will allow you time to have final alterations made if the need should arise.
